Do I need to be a member to shoot at Whistling Pines Gun Clubs?

Yes. At Whistling Pines Gun Clubs in Colorado Spring, CO, we believe in safety first and requiring a membership to shoot helps us maintain safe locations. Guests may come with a member and once a safety briefing is completed. However our training courses, retail shop, and gunsmith services are available to the public.

What is the policy in regards to bringing or inviting guests?

Members are allowed to bring up to 2 guests in one shooting session. Guests have to undergo a safety briefing before shooting. Members must also pay the guest fees unless other arrangements have been previously discussed.

How do I get a concealed carry Permit in Colorado?

There are several steps you must go through if you are interested in obtaining a concealed carry Permit in Colorado. First you must fill out the application from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department, provide your Colorado Driver’s License or State ID, pay all fees and provide proof of firearms training.

Who is eligible to obtain a concealed carry permit?

An applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 21 years of age or older at the time of the application
  • Be a resident of El Paso County (active military stationed in El Paso County qualify as residents with a Military ID and PCS Orders)
  • Provide a valid Colorado Driver's License or Colorado ID or a Military ID and PCS orders
  • Submit proof of firearms training within the last ten years
  • Successfully complete a background investigation
  • You cannot be ineligible to possess a firearm pursuant to section 18-12-108 or Federal Law. (Deals with possession of weapons by previous offenders.)
  • You cannot have been convicted of perjury under section 18-8-503. (Deals with information provided or deliberately omitted on a permit application.)
  • You must not be chronically and habitually use alcoholic beverages to the extent that your normal faculties are functionally impaired.
  • You are not an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance as defined in section 18-18-102(5). (As determined by Federal Law and Regulations, the ATF has determined that state issued Medical Marijuana cards Do Not exempt this restriction.)
  • You are not subject to a restraining order under certain guidelines.
How do you demonstrate safety and proficiency?

You can demonstrate your safety and proficiency by submitting:

  • Evidence of experience with firearms through participation in organized shooting competitions
  • Evidence that, at the time the application is submitted, you are a certified firearms instructor
  • Proof you have been honorably discharged from a branch of the United States Armed Forces within the three years preceding your submission of the application, or ten years if you held a pistol qualification
What kind of training is required for a concealed carry permit?

A training certificate from a “handgun training class” obtained within the ten years preceding your submission of the application. At Whistling Pines Gun Club we offer the following classes that will qualify you for a concealed carry license:

You do not need to be a member of Whistling Pines Gun Club to attend any of our courses. You will have to submit the training certificate that includes the signature of our NRA Certified class instructor.

How much does it cost to obtain a concealed carry Permit in Colorado?

$135.00 payable by CASH (exact change REQUIRED, the Sheriff's Office cannot make change), DEBIT/CREDIT CARD with 2.5% bank fee, MONEY ORDER, or CASHIER’S CHECK; non-cash payments are made payable to E.P.S.O. This includes the fee for the background, fingerprint check (CBI Cost) and the processing fee for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

Can I have a firearm transferred to Whistling Pines Gun Club?

Yes. If you would like to have a firearm delivered to our location for transfer, feel free to request our FFL for documentation. FFL Transfer Fee is $30 for members and non-members.

What if I have to cancel a reservation for an event? (i.e Date Night, Family Night, Movie Night, etc.)

Unfortunately, due to ordering the food ahead of time, no refunds or exchanges will be given.

What if I have to cancel a reservation for a training course?

A 24 hour notice must be given via email to cancel a training course and/or switch to another. We must make room for people wishing to take the course. Emails must be sent to:
